Mother's Day
I had a lovely Mother's Day on Sunday. Mr Q and I went to lunch with his mom and dinner with my folks. So I didn't have to cook anything except for scrambled eggs for breakfast. Not that I cook that much anyway. Mr Q is usually home before me, and he likes his own cooking better than mine anyway. (He cooks with butter!)
I am working on some socks. My children's librarian made me learn to knit them, and I am hooked. I bought (horrors) acrylic yarn because it is cheap and I didn't think that I would really make anything useful. Actually this is a cute self-striping yarn and I like them. I made 1 sock (Hooray), with metal dpns, then 1/2 of the other one.
Then I got new needles, size 1 birch dpns, which I love, and started another sock, and decided to rib the whole sock, which was much more work, yet more boring somehow. I finally finished it, and it doesn't fit! So Sunday, my almost 8 year old granddaughter came over and I showed her the sock and told her it didn't fit me and I didn't know anyone who could wear it, and she tried it on and it fit perfectly. I was shocked because I was trying to make a Women's size 9 for me, and it was a little small, maybe 7 1/2 or 8, and she is seven and wears a woman's size 6. This girl is going to be tall!
So now I need to make that other sock before she outgrows them!
I thought I would be able to post a photo of my socks, but I don't have a driver for the digital camera I was planning to use. I hope soon that I can post photos, in addition to Oprah!
